Hellraiser Review

Hellraiser came out in 1987 and was directed by the ever-puss-filled Clive Barker. We have used science (and possibly the box cover) to determine that this movie fits perfectly into the "Cenobyte Horror" genre.

During the time we had our polls open, 197 cat-like viewers just like you weighed in on Hellraiser. 124 of 'em thought it was great! 73 thought it was shit. Takes all kinds.

This is a Dave and Jim's B-Movie Review. This review was written some time between 1996 and 2001. Once you've sucked the marrow from this one, you can head back to the full list to pick another review for savoring. Do it again and again.

Dave's Review

Hellraiser was the first real horror movie I ever saw. To this day very few movies of this genre can even come close to it's power. It has many strengths: The villains are the awesome and mysterious Cenobytes. Their leader, Pinhead, is extremely well suited for breif, incredibly violent scenes in which he says wonderfully quotable quotes. The plot is not only coherent, but it's actually damned good (this is owed entirely to master story-teller Clive Barker). Finally, the music is haunting. So in all, this is one of the greatest horror movies ever made.

Jim's Review

Now this is another fine horror film. This movie starts one of the best horror series ever. I love every thing about this movie. My favorite thing, is the Box of course, I can think of few things cooler than that box. This is also a series that must be started from the first movie, you just cannot jump into it very easily.
