(Learn and Work) In Public

I enjoyed Learn In Public (swyx.io) so much that I took it completely to heart. Assembly Nights was my first experiment with learning completely in-the-open and it connected me with a bunch of awesome people I would otherwise never have met online.

At the same time, I started writing draft content on my website and actually linking to it before it was finished. Spelling errors, bad ideas, half-finished work, etc. All out in the open.

December 2023: I also completed Assembly Nights Season 2 this year and am currently doing a December Adventure 2023 with a highly detailed dev log and lots of screenshots as I make a simple hyperlink-based choose-your-own-adventure game-making tool (there are really too many hyphens in that description).

It’s a bit unnerving, but also freeing. Sometimes I leave something unfinished, but that’s okay because I’m human and this is not a corporate website. It’s my home online and I’m allowed to leave things unfinished in my home.

Also, an unfinished thing is still a thing. It might still be useful to someone else. Even just seeing the fact that somebody posted an unfinished thing may be useful to someone else.
